During a summer season characterized by the epidemiological situation, and the consequent cancellation of the Mercedes-Benz UCI Mountain Bike World Cup Italian round, Val di Sole has confirmed itself as the elected land of cyclists. And it could not be any different for a territory preparing to host the 2021 Mountain Bike World Championships, as well as the 2026 edition of the MTB Worlds.

From June to September, thousands of cyclists took the Pontedilegno-Tonale ski lifts, and even more enjoyed the Val di Sole cycling path along the Noce river, the reference points of a 360-degree offer that allows everyone to enjoy an outdoor experience immersed in the nature.

Throughout the summer, Val di Sole has offered a wide variety of activities. From trails of different difficulties to the adrenaline that Downhill can provide thanks to the two BikeParks in the area, BikePark Pontedilegno-Tonale and BikePark Val di Sole in Commezzadura, the last one open for a short period, from 1st to August 23rd, due to extraordinary maintenance on the cableway.

The two BikeParks recorded over 7,000 bike passes sold during the summer season, between Daolasa and Tonale. The Pontedilegno-Tonale bike area set a new record number of tickets sold, with an increase of 43% of riders compared to 2019 and a 50% increase in daily passages. A growing trend confirmed by the weekly and seasonal passes, up 69% and 40% respectively on the previous season.

That was another proof of unconditional love for Val di Sole from cyclists all around the world, including those who have come to Trentino, Italy, in search of family-friendly experiences, having fun on the cycle path by the Noce river. Between June and September, more than 56,000 cyclists and 7,000 pedestrians enjoyed the breeze of the Noce River, for a total of 77,000 passages until September 30th, 2020.

"Despite the difficult year, we are satisfied with the work done, including the compliance with the anti-COVID regulations. We offered our guests a bike product of the highest level – explained Val di Sole Tourist Board Director Fabio Sacco. - Val di Sole confirmed itself as a beautiful destination, perfectly to be discovered on two wheels. We are working on our trails network to make a further leap forward in 2021, when the Mountain Bike World Championships will take the World’s top athletes back to Val di Sole once again.
