The snow on the Tonale Pass is waiting for LA Winter Downhill heroes. Just a few days are left to Saturday March 9th, when the Valena slope will stage the 7th edition of the craziest bike downhill of the whole winter. It will be a matter of balance, technique, and gut, but above all a chance to live an experience and a race in unique conditions, with the technical supervision of the MTB World Cup organizers of Grandi Eventi Val di Sole.

The organizing committee is working for an edition to remember and has involved three special guests for the occasion: three MTB champions in different disciplines, who chose to take the snow’s challenge and join LA Winter Downhill participants.

Drawing the perfect lines on the snowy slope as forerunners will be two Downhill specialists, both former Italian National Champions in the discipline: Francesco Colombo and Veronika Widmann, the latter returning to Val di Sole after the amazing 5th place achieved in the last World Cup Downhill in Val di Sole, on the iconic Black Snake slope.

In addition, Italian MTB veteran Martino Fruet will join Colombo and Widmann on Friday March 8th, for the MTB sunset downhill on the ski slopes (with cablecar lift) organized by Ponte Tonale Bike, with starting line from Malga Valbiolo and arrival in Ponte di Legno, free for all the Winter Downhill entrants. It will be an exciting 10 km downhill in the wake of experienced guides and of the three champions – a perfect chance to get some special tips and advice for the following day’s race. The excursion will end at 7.30 PM, with an happy hour in Ponte di Legno.

Open to both MTB and e-MTB, LA Winter Downhill’s main program will take place on Saturday March 9th: the registration takes place from 11.30 to 1.30 PM, followed by free track recon. From 3 to 4 PM the Eliminator comes on stage, with mass start: only the best riders out of the elimination race will access the real LA Winter DH, starting at 4.30 PM on the “Valena” slope.

Giant slalom gates will track the route on the white slope (1.000 mt length with 100 mt vertical drop) before athletes get into the snowpark, among humps and parabolic curves. The riders boasting the best balance will thrive at the 2019 LA Winter DH in both MTB and eMTB categories, and after the awarding ceremonies, the “Apres-Bike” party will start.

Awaiting La Winter Downhill riders is also a valuable race pack, including a WD-40 product, a Pasta Felicetti pack, a Pejo Water bottle and a daily skipass for the Ponte di Legno-Tonale area: a unique occasion to enjoy a great weekend of sport and adrenaline.

Registrations to LA Winter Downhill are open for € 35 until March, 6th , while on March, 7th – the last registration day – the cost amounts to € 40.
