OC President Luciano Rizzi: “Awards like this motivate us toward further improvement, on the way to the 2021 MTB World Championships"

Val di Sole is a byword for excellence in international Mountain Biking, whether we are talking about Cross Country, Downhill or Trials. The International Cycling Union (UCI) awarded the 2019 UCI Trials World Cup stage organized in Vermiglio (Trentino, Northern Italy) as best event of the circuit.
Another significant recognition for Grandi Eventi Val di Sole: in fact, in the 2018 season, the Downhill World Cup stage organized in Daolasa di Commezzadura (Trentino, Northern Italy) was also awarded as best event of the year.
From August 23rd to 25th, the acrobats of the cycling have long ignited the public of the San Leonardo Lakes and the 33,000 viewers who watched the action live on the UCI YouTube channel. Natural elements like rocks, logs, water and mud combined with man-made obstacles produced interesting and challenging sections for the riders, enhancing the talent of Jack Carthy (winner of the 26” category), Thomas Pechhacker (winner among 20”) and Nina Reichenbach, first in the women’s competition.
The prestigious award assigned to Val di Sole launches the organizing committee into a great 2020 – with the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup of Cross Country and Downhill taking place from September 11th to 13th, 2020 along with the Four-Cross World Championships, preceded by the UCI Trials World Cup (July 24-26, 2020) – and the closure of a three-year cycle in 2021 with the organization of the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships of Cross Country, Downhill and Four-Cross.

They gave us a boost toward further improvement – said Val di Sole Tourist Board and Grandi Eventi Val di Sole President Luciano Rizzi. – Over 10 years ago, we gave started a journey in Mountain Biking, and today we belong among the top events in the World. We are already focused on the 2020 summer and the 2021 World Championships: our goal is to organize a global festival of Mountain Biking”.
