IN VAL DI SOLE | TRENTINO UCI MTB WORLD CUP FINALS ARE BACK IN 2017 4-CROSS, DOWNHILL AND CROSS COUNTRY COMPETITIONS

COMMEZZADURA (VAL DI SOLE – TRENTINO), 10 SEPTEMBER 2016 –Val di Sole and Trentino will play host to UCI MTB WORD CUP 2017 FINALS. The competitions will be held from 25 to 27 August in the specialities:  DHI and XCO. Exactly what happened in 2015 when the winners were Swiss Olympic Champion Nino Schurter and Denmark’s Annika Langvad (XCO), USA’s Aaron Gwin and British Rachel Atherton (DHI). 4X competitions will be held too as in 2015 when German athlete Aiko Goehler and Anneke Beerten (4X) of the Netherlands won.

The news was presented to the journalists accredited for the World Championships in Val di Sole 2016 in the beautiful press room in Daolasa by O.C. president Aldo Bordati and Alessio Migazzi head of marketing, with sport councillor Tiziano Mellarini, vice president of the Regional Council Lorenzo Ossana, the executive vice president of Funivie Folgarida Marilleva lift facilities Luca Mandrioli and head of Italian Mtb Federation Paolo Garniga. All this happened in a day featuring also Councillor for Tourism Michele Dallapiccola and of Trentino marketing CEO Maurizio Rossini, about ten Nikon qualified Instagrammers and an educational, with 20 Italian journalists invited by Apt Val di Sole.

 “This good news confirms the great trust that UCI has in Val di Sole and Trentino – commented Aldo Bordati, O.C. President Grandi Eventi Val di Sole -. It is the evidence that Val di Sole has become the point of reference for mountain bike, proven also by the great result in terms of spectators watching the World Championship races held here in Commezzadura and Vermiglio over the last two weeks. It’s a format that allows us to draw the attention of the public and media to our territory – continues Bordati -. The World Championships that will end tomorrow confirm the high quality of the work carried out by the Val di Sole-Trentino team which has led to a great result in terms of spectators and promotion. All the world’s attention is on our territory thanks to the live reports on Rai and on many international TV networks, articles published on dailies and specialized magazines, as well as the news on blogs and websites. Great attention also came from the socials. All this thanks to the professional staff of our Committee, Trentino Marketing and Apt Val di Sole (Tourist Promotion Agency)”.

Mellarini reminded “the economic and social value of sport, that in Trentino is worth 6.8% of the GDP”. He spoke about the investments done by the Provincial Government supporting sport facilities which “today turn into venues that can host great events – he said -. Trentino is an outdoor gym and a greater synergy between the different bodies involved in event organization will guarantee excellent exposure and tourism feedback”.

Vice President of the Regional Council Ossana welcomed everybody on behalf of the Regional government and thanked all authorities and bodies in the Valley who support the World Championship.

Mandrioli confirmed that the new Bike Park of Daolasa will open in 2017. “The idea is that of creating a bike-friendly resort, similar to what happens in Val di Sole in the winter for skiing – he explained -. The Lift facilities association has always believed in the mountain bike product and its value to promote summer tourism. Providing a perfect a mix between skiing and cycling, Val di Sole stands among the top world resorts for tourist offer. We also aim at opening the Four cross and Cross-country tracks to tourists”.

Alongside the organization work, there are on-going tourist promotion activities. From this year, Mtb lovers will find 300 Km of new trails down the valley (with cycle paths suitable for beginners and families) and up the mountains for those who love discovering the Alpine territory. While the Daolasa Bike park will be open from 2017, the one in Pejo is coming to life through a project, the Tonale Bike park is already available with two courses for beginners. A perfect target that matches the valley’s atmosphere and bike friendly services that attract families who love outdoor sports and holidays. The 35km cycle path across the valley will be enlarged with a 3 million euro project, and will add up to the over 400 km of cycle paths in Trentino. Other important services dedicated to cyclists in Val di Sole are the Bike Bus and the Dolomiti Express, train leaving from Trento, the province chief town, well connected with the important international airport of Verona; from here the train continues up to Mostizzolo and runs along the valley next to the cycle path and the Noce River enabling riders to move rapidly from one resort to the other and travel along the entire valley up to Passo del Tonale and Pejo.
