COMMEZZADURA (VAL DI SOLE – TRENTINO), 7 SEPTEMBER 2016 - The opening ceremony of Daolasa Bike Arena featuring the speeches by Aldo Bordati (O.C. President), Emin Muftuoglu (UCI), Dario Broccardo (FCI Trentino President) and Ugo Rossi (President of the Autonomous Province of Trento) officially kicked off the UCI Mountain Bike World Champs in Val di Sole. The parade from Commezzadura’s town hall, headed by the Bike Center Val di Sole’s young athletes, was the preview.
Bordati reminded the challenge of the Comitato Grandi Eventi and the hard work of the last two years. He quoted the support of CONI and the Italian Government with the speech of the deputy Minister Luca Lotti, read at the beginning of the ceremony. “Val di Sole is ready to promote this amazing area and Trentino in both terms of organization and tourist promotion” commented Bordati, also mentioning the successful results of the Trials and Masters World Champs, hosted in Vermiglio last week.
UCI delegate thanked Val di Sole “for the efforts towards our sport. I look forward to enjoying this show”. After Broccardo’s speech, President Rossi “welcomed athletes, technicians, judges and journalists in Trentino and Val di Sole”. “We are eager to start these World Championships – he added – certain that we will be able to offer the best in terms of courses, organization, warmth and friendliness”. Rossi thanked all local authorities of the Valley and Province as well as volunteers who “have made this event possible”.
After playing the Italian and UCI anthems, dances and songs took place on the stage and President Bordati declared the World Championships officially open.
