Jackson Goldstone is a name well known to downhill fans in Val di Sole ever since 2021, when he was crowned Junior World Champion—before going on to conquer the legendary Black Snake again as an elite rider in 2023. The Canadian clearly has a natural connection with the Trentino track, and today he delivered one of the most spectacular moments in its history.
Putting down one of the finest runs of the past decade, the Santa Cruz Syndicate rider pulled off an incredible hat trick in Trentino, stopping the clock at a blistering 3:38.682. Goldstone made the real difference from mid-course onwards, carving out unique, creative lines that no one else could match.
Behind him, second place went to Australia's Troy Brosnan (Canyon CLLCTV), who finished 2.422 seconds back. Third was Thibaut Daprela of France (Rogue Racing), trailing by 3.361, and the only one to come close to Goldstone’s masterclass—though a mistake in the final section of the Black Snake cost him dearly.
A surprising fourth place went to American Dylan Maples, ahead of two giants of the sport, Loris Vergier and Loïc Bruni. For Bruni, the elusive Val di Sole win will have to wait yet again.
Goldstone leads the World Cup overall standings with 874 punti, ahead of Loic Bruni (774) and Loris Vergier (525).
JUNIOR MEN: ALRAN TWINS DOMINATE – TILL BEATS MAX
The Junior Men’s race at the Val di Sole Downhill went exactly as expected, turning into a family duel. This time, it was Till Alran (Commencal-Muc-Off) who took the win with a time of 3:42.095, just half a second ahead of his twin brother Max Alran.
Max had the upper hand in the first half of the track, but a mistake in the middle section of the Black Snake gave Till the opportunity to take control and cross the finish line half a second clear.
A 1-2 finish for France, once again proving itself as the benchmark nation in world Downhill — and with the Alran twins, they may already have the next Pierron and Bruni in the making. Third place went to US rider Asa Vermette (Frameworks Racing), who finished 1.669 seconds back.
