Four UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in less than twenty years: this alone is enough to demonstrate the exceptional relationship between Val di Sole and mountain biking. After hosting the 2008, 2016 and 2021 editions, the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships will return to the Daolasa di Commezzadura race venue in Trentino, Northern Italy, for the fourth time from 26 to 30 August 2026.
Seventeen rainbow jerseys will be awarded across five formats: Cross-country Olympic, Cross-country Short Track, Team Relay, Downhill and E-Mountain Bike. Fans are hoping for a thrilling showdown between the best Mountain Bike athletes and potentially the attendance of other discipline riders.
On Tuesday, July 28, Val di Sole officially presented the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships week at the Cassa Centrale Banca headquarters in Trento. Those in attendance at the press conference included Roberto Failoni (Tourism Councillor of the Autonomous Province of Trento), Giovanni Battaiola (Trentino Marketing's President), Maurizio Rossini (Trentino Marketing's CEO), Luciano Rizzi (President of Val di Sole Tourist Board and Grandi Eventi Val di Sole), Fabio Sacco (Director of Val di Sole Tourist Board and Grandi Eventi Val di Sole), Paola Mora (President of Trentino's Olympic Committee), Renato Beber (President of the Trentino Committee of the Italian Cycling Federation) and Marco Podetti (Mayor of Commezzadura). The event was opened by Roberta Famà, Gruppo Cassa Centrale's Chief ESG, Brand and Public Affairs, and Silvio Mucchi, Fondo Comune Cassa Rurali Trentine's President, who welcomed attendees as host.
FORMATS AND CHAMPIONS
Following rider registration on Monday, August 24, the 2026 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships will officially open on Tuesday, August 25 with the opening ceremony scheduled for 6:00 pm CEST in Malé, preceded by the first Cross-country and E-Mountain Bike training sessions.
Wednesday, August 26 marks the first medal day. After the traditional track walk on the iconic Black Snake – scheduled from 8:00 am CEST – the spotlight shifts to the E-Mountain Bike competitions, with the women's race at 10:00 am CEST followed by the men's race at 11:30 am CEST. In the afternoon, attention turns to the Cross-country Team Relay at 5:00 pm CEST, featuring six riders of different categories per nation.
Thursday, August 27 opens with the Junior Cross-country Olympic races – women at 9:30 am CEST and men at 11:15 am CEST. In the afternoon, the focus moves to the Cross-country Short Track (XCC), the fast-paced format that brings Cross-country specialists onto a compact circuit.
The Women's U23 race begins at 3:30 pm CEST, followed by the Men's U23 at 4:30 pm CEST, the Women Elite at 5:45 pm CEST, and the Men Elite at 6:30 pm CEST. In the evening, the side events take centre stage with the Four-cross (4X) Pro Tour qualification at 9:00 pm CEST – the world's premier four-cross challenge.
The legendary Black Snake – widely regarded as one of the most demanding Downhill tracks in the world – moves under the spotlight from Friday, August 28, with Junior qualifying from 10:30 am CEST and Elite qualifying from 3:30 pm CEST. Later in the day, attention shifts to more side events, this time for the youngest riders with the Cross-country Kids event at 6:00 pm CEST, followed by the Four-Cross competitions as side event at 9:00 pm CEST and the Val di Sole Bikeland Party at 10:00 pm CEST.
All Downhill UCI world titles will be decided on Saturday, August 29. The programme opens at 9:15 am CEST with the Women Junior, followed by the Men Junior at 10:00 am CEST, the Women Elite at 1:20 pm CEST and the Men Elite at 3:00 pm CEST. After the awards ceremony, celebrations continue with the second Val di Sole Bikeland Party from 9:00 pm CEST.
As tradition dictates, the grand finale on Sunday, August 30 is dedicated to Cross-country Olympic (XCO). The Women's U23 race starts at 9:00 am CEST, followed by the Men's U23 at 11:00 am CEST, the Women Elite at 1:00 pm CEST and the Men Elite at 3:15 pm CEST. Competition levels are expected to be extremely high in. In the elite women's race and the elite men’s competition.

FROM TRAIN TO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS: VAL DI SOLE AND TRENTINO AS MODELS OF SUSTAINABILITY
Thanks to the Trento-Malé-Mezzana railway line, spectators attending the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Val di Sole-Trentino will be able to reach the venue easily and sustainably. Daolasa station, located just a few metres from the event entrance, will be served by an enhanced train service.
Throughout the event, additional trains will run every 30 minutes between Malé and Mezzana, dedicated to spectators, strengthening the Trento-Malé-Mezzana route. From 27 to 30 August, the BikeTrain service on the Mostizzolo-Malé-Dimaro-Mezzana route will be replaced by a shuttle bus service.
Train services will be free for holders of the Trentino Guest Card, Val di Sole Guest Card or Val di Sole Guest Card Easy Pontedilegno-Tonale.
This is not an isolated initiative; Trentino and Val di Sole have invested in sustainable models for international sporting events for years.
During the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships, the Daolasa venue will host various initiatives aimed at reducing its environmental impact. Dolomiti Energia will provide electricity generated entirely from renewable sources, and Val di Sole water will be made available free of charge from fountains in the event area to eliminate the need for plastic bottles.
The Val di Sole World Championships will also support a reforestation project in areas of the municipality of Sexten/Sesto Pusteria, Südtirol/Alto Adige, that have been affected by recent forest damage.
