Stepping off a train and arriving directly at the entrance to the race venue is rare for major outdoor sporting events. This will become a reality at the 2026 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Val di Sole-Trentino (August 26-30). Spectators will be able to travel by rail to Daolasa di Commezzadura and reach the venue in just a few steps. While the station has long served as a gateway for visitors enjoying Val di Sole's winter and summer outdoor activities, the news is the significant boost to rail connections, with dedicated services on race days.

The Trento–Malé–Mezzana railway, operated by Trentino Trasporti, has long been the backbone of mobility in the Val di Sole. For the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships, the line has been fully integrated into the event's transport plan, with dedicated services designed to encourage the use of public transport and minimize reliance on private cars. Spectators will be able to reach the Daolasa di Commezzadura venue in approximately two hours from Trento railway station, which offers daily high-speed services to Italy's major cities via Frecciarossa and Italo, as well as regional connections and international links to Innsbruck and Munich operated by Deutsche Bahn and ÖBB.

The most significant enhancement relates to the final section of the line. Throughout the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships, trains will run between Malé and Mezzana every 30 minutes, offering spectators a convenient and eco-friendly way to reach the venue without needing to use private transport. This measure complements the overall improvement to the railway service and is a key part of the event's mobility strategy.

From June 27 to September 9, the BikeTrain service will continue to operate on the Mostizzolo–Malé–Dimaro–Mezzana section of the line. The specially equipped trains can carry up to 80 bicycles and 10 child bike trailers. Both services will be free of charge for holders of the Trentino Guest CardVal di Sole Guest Card and Val di Sole Guest Card Easy-PontediLegno Tonale. This allows visitors not only to experience the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships, but also to explore the wider area, with its mountain bike trails, gravel routes and scenic cycle path alongside the Noce River. Free parking for rail users will be clearly signposted near the railway stations of MaléMezzanaMarilleva 900, and Dimaro.

The project is part of a broader strategy through which Trentino has invested in sustainable mobility solutions for major international events for years. The expertise and operational models developed in preparation for the 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Milano Cortina are now being applied in Val di Sole. This will help build a lasting legacy of best practices, which will become increasingly important in the lead-up to the 2031 UCI Cycling World Championships.

Mobility is also one of the cornerstones of the organizers' broader sustainability strategy. The Daolasa venue will once again host a series of initiatives aimed at reducing the event's environmental impact in 2026. Further projects linked to Grandi Eventi Val di Sole's sustainability activities will be presented in Trento on July 28.

"People often say that the journey is part of the experience. In Val di Sole, we have chosen to make it an integral part of a world-class sporting event", said Fabio Sacco, Director of the Val di Sole Tourist Board and Grandi Eventi Val di Sole. - "The enhanced rail services introduced for the World Championships show that it's possible to organize an international event with sustainable mobility at its core. This approach responds to today's needs while looking ahead to the future of major events in Trentino, where accessibility, visitor experience, and environmental responsibility must go hand in hand."
