The electric revolution has reached mountain biking too: e-MTB combines the effort of pedalling with the support of an electric motor to deliver races that are both spectacular and accessible.
It was officially recognized by the UCI in 2019 and reached a symbolic milestone in Italy with Val di Sole, which awarded the first rainbow jerseys to France’s Jérôme Gilloux and Switzerland’s Nicole Göldi in 2021.
Competitions take place on courses similar to Olympic cross-country circuits and last around fifty minutes.
Despite being a young discipline, e-MTB is already full of excitement and blends technology and spectacle. It continues to grow in popularity among mountain bike enthusiasts worldwide.
